Lempäälän Vesi and Digita have concluded a 10-year agreement on the digitalisation of the remote reading of water meters. Lempäälän Vesi, which maintains the water supply network in Lempäälä and Vesilahti, started building a remote water meter monitoring network after a successful pilot phase.

“Our goal is to digitise little over 5000 water meters in the near future. The coverage of Digita’s LoRaWAN network has expanded significantly in our area in the past few years, which has made it possible for us to include even distant properties in our remote water meter monitoring network”, Lasse Sampakoski, the CEO of Lempäälän Vesi, explains. “The benefit of working with Digita is that the service does not require the customer to make large investments, and Digita makes sure the network works.”

The introduction of remote water reading benefits both the company and the end customers. Real-time water consumption monitoring makes it possible to phase out water bills based on estimates. The invoicing period of bills based on actual water meter readings is shorter, making the company’s cashflow more even.

“We are delighted that Lempäälän Vesi showed interest in our services and that we could work together with them. Together we are able to bring modern solutions to water supply customers,” Mona Miettinen, Digita’s IoT services Sales Manager, says.
