Juha-Pekka Weckström appointed as the CEO of Digita – The company prepares for a new phase

Today, the
Digita Board of Directors appointed M.Sc. (Tech.) Juha-Pekka Weckström (age
44) as Digita’s new CEO starting from 5 January 2015. Weckström has previously
worked as the CEO of the Realia Group. Before that, he had a long career in the
service of the TeliaSonera Group, where he was responsible for the strategy and
development of the Eurasia business area. At TeliaSonera, he was also the CEO
of the Finnish subsidiary Sonera and the director of the broadband business
area. During his time at TeliaSonera, Weckström was also a board member of many
subsidiaries and associated companies in the Baltics.

“I am very
happy to return to a familiar business area and to assume responsibility for a
leading Finnish broadcasting actor. Right now, the task is very challenging and
interesting. Many fundamental matters in the industry are in a state of flux,
and hybrid services combining TV and the Internet are expanding powerfully. I
am enthusiastic about grasping this change and in it I see a new future for
Digita. I know Digita has the best expertise in the industry, and I am sure we
can live and thrive during this change,” says Weckström.

Arne
Wessberg
, the Chairman of the Board of Digita, tells that the
essential criteria when choosing a CEO were experience in broadcasting and
telecommunications business and strong proof of successfully leading a
specialist business: “We are glad to welcome a leader with strong industry
experience to renew Digita with us.”

Juha-Pekka
Weckström will act as the CEO of Digita Networks Oy and its subsidiary Digita
Oy from 5 January 2015 onwards.
