Digita and Parikkala’s water supply service established cooperation on the digitalisation of water supply in 2020. The successful pilot phase ended last year, and the goal is to install approximately 900 remotely read meters in the coming years.

Antti Juntunen started working as Head of Municipal Engineering in Parikkala in February last year. “The pilot phase included 10 remotely read meters. About 50 meters have been installed so far, and a total of approximately 900 remotely read meters are to be installed in 2021–2028”, Juntunen says.

Digita has been a great partner for Parikkala’s water supply service, and the cooperation has gone smoothly. “The work started at a fast pace and Digita has been able to help us excellently”, Juntunen says. Remotely read meters have improved the level of service offered by Parikkala’s water supply service. Parikkala’s water supply service had not previously made use of IoT solutions, but the new remotely read meters are a sign that various IoT solutions may be utilised more widely in the future.

“The practical benefits have been significant. We have been able to work more efficiently overall and reduce costs. Invoicing, reading meters remotely, as well as detecting various disruptions and responding to them have become much easier. Our customers have also been extremely pleased,” Juntunen says.

“We are extremely pleased to see our cooperation with Parikkala’s water supply service continue. Parikkala’s water supply service has been very active when it comes to utilising new opportunities afforded by IoT technology in their business and the development of their services,” says Digita’s IoT Sales Manager Mona Miettinen.

Digita’s IoT services for water supply, including the IoT network and the My Water cloud service, are scalable for water utilities of all sizes.
