The City of Pieksämäki and the technology company Digita Oy have agreed on utilising the city’s service properties for the development of future mobile networks. The City of Pieksämäki has various types of properties that can be used as base station locations for mobile networks.

The importance of digital infrastructure is emphasised as the requirements for functioning data connections increase. Smart properties are becoming more common and the traffic volume of wireless network connections used in real estate is increasing dramatically.

“It is essential for the city of Pieksämäki to ensure mobile connections that enable digitalisation development in the city. At the same time, we want to ensure that the mobile infrastructure is developed safely, taking property users and properties into account”, says Jukka Salovainio, Building Services Specialist at the City of Pieksämäki. “We wanted Digita as an expert and competent partner for the task. This allows us to focus on our core mission”, Salovainio continues.

“We are very pleased with the cooperation we are starting with the City of Pieksämäki. Thanks to it, we can now improve the provision of high-quality digital infrastructure to mobile carriers and other mobile network builders in the Pieksämäki area as well. In practice, this means that Digita will enter into agreements with operators and is responsible for all leasing and contract management related to telecom operations going forward”, Digita’s Chief Operating Officer Markus Ala-Hautala says.
