Lumijoen Vesi, responsible for the water resources management for the municipality of Lumijoki, and Digita have concluded a 10-year agreement on the digitalisation of the remote reading of water meters with the help of Digita’s IoT network that is based on the LoRaWAN technology. Digita was selected as the partner based on its feasible overall solution and references.

“We took a customer-oriented approach in our implementation of the digitalisation of the remote reading of water meters. In addition to Lumijoen Vesi, our customers will also benefit significantly from this. Taking such a digital leap makes the everyday life of customers easier as the water supply plant can obtain consumption data without the customer having to take any separate measures. In addition, water billing will take place in real time and settlement bills will no longer be needed,” says Ari Korkala, Managing Director, Lumijoen Vesi.

The 10-year contract means that the municipality’s water meters will be replaced with remote-readable models over the next three years. “We are happy with the cooperation with Digita. Even though we are a small company, we feel that they are genuinely interested in our operations, and the LoRa network has been built in accordance with our needs,” Korkala adds.

“It has been a pleasure to observe the customer-oriented operations of Lumijoen Vesi and their willingness to cooperate. This is a good starting point,” says Mona Miettinen, Digita’s Sales Manager for IoT Services.
