HD transition enters final phase—standard-definition commercial TV channels to end in terrestrial and cable broadcasts on June 30, 2025

HELSINKI June 16, 2025 - The transition to HD television broadcasts will be completed on June 30, 2025, when standard-definition commercial channels will be removed from terrestrial and cable TV networks. The changes will be made on Monday, June 30. At that time, Digita will end standard-definition broadcasts at 8 a.m. Once Digita has completed the modifications, a channel search may be required in terrestrial households in order to view the channels of the terrestrial TV network. We will provide information once the work is complete.
The following channels will no longer be broadcast in standard definition on terrestrial and cable TV networks: MTV3, Nelonen, MTV Sub, MTV Ava, TV5, Liv, Jim, Kutonen, TLC, Star Channel, Frii, and National Geographic. The HD broadcasts of the channels will continue as normal.
After the modifications, you will need an HD-compatible TV or set-top box to watch TV. In addition to the TV at home, you should also check other receivers in holiday homes and summer cottages, on your boat, and in your caravan.
