“Digita is the backbone of electronic mass communication in Finland and we will do everything in our power to ensure that our radio and television networks function even during these exceptional times, so that we can ensure reliable communications to Finnish residents,” says Pekka Mattila, Vice President, Broadcasting at Digita. Unlike internet services, the service level of Digita’s networks is not affected by the number of users.

Digita is also a pay-tv operator on the terrestrial television network. The prevailing situation with corona has had major effects on sports series and sports events that were about to start and there have been suspensions and postponements. To respond to this, Digita lowers the channel package prices for its current customers and, starting from 1 April, it offers top movies, popular series and other entertainment for the duration of the break in sports coverage.

In addition to the pay-tv content, Yle’s HD channels Yle TV 1 HD, Yle TV 2 HD and Yle Teema & Fem HD will be available to 90% of Finns starting from the beginning of April, and they will provide television viewers with excellent content and high-quality image. The HD network will be built further to cover the entire country by 1 June 2020.

“Of course, it is unfortunate that there will be a significant gap in the sports offering. However, we believe that our customers understand how challenging the situation is. Due to the circumstances, Digita has decided to offer to the pay-tv customers on the terrestrial television network plenty of other high-quality content in addition to the ongoing sports coverage,” Mattila says.

High-quality programme content to terrestrial television pay-tv customers

• The C More Sport channel package has now been complemented with all C More movie and series channels, and subscribers will also have access to the entire movie and series production of the C More streaming service during the break in sports.
• Viasat Urheilu, Viasat Jalkapallo, Viasat Jääkiekko and Viasat Golf channel packages are complemented with all Viasat’s movie, series and documentary channels, and subscribers who had access to Viaplay’s streaming service in connection with a channel package will have access to the entire movie and series offering in Viaplay’s streaming service for the duration of the break in sports coverage.
• For the duration of the break in sports, the subscribers of the Viaplay Sport channel package will also have access to all the content of the Viaplay Total package (applies to subscribers who have had access to Viaplay’s streaming service in connection with a channel package).

Pay-tv services on Digita’s terrestrial television network are sold through DNA’s sales network. DNA’s customer service provides help to the terrestrial network pay-tv customers.
