Leading provider of mobile data collection and positioning solutions GSGroup Oy and Digita Oy have made an agreement regarding cooperation on IoT positioning solutions. In the future, GSGroup will make use of Digita’s nationwide IoT network based on LoRaWAN technology for purposes such as ensuring the quality of large shipments and locating large asset items.

GSGroup has been working in tracking and positioning since 1992 and is today one of the leading sensor technology providers in Europe. The company offers versatile positioning and tracking systems for large logistics and ground-handling companies such as DB Schenker, PostNord and Swissport. The efficiency and profitability of logistics companies is completely dependent on their ability to identify objects in transit and follow the critical data produced by those objects. In that, they trust the solutions provided by GSGroup.

“With the advent of the Internet of Things, everything is now connected to everything else, and the objects being tracked and the amount of data produced by them are going to increase enormously and create chaos. But, where others see chaos, we see opportunity. We want to produce relevant data for our customers and visualize it in an easy-to-understand way,” says GSGroup Business Unit Manager Pekka Naukkarinen.

“Now, we want to expand our technology platform to Digita’s LoRaWAN network, which we see as offering an excellent opportunity for cost-effective and agile tracking of large asset items, such as large pallets and container shipments. In the first phase, we will also use the LoRa network in various shipment positioning solutions. Our goal is to provide cost-effective positioning solutions to a wider consumer base,” Naukkarinen says regarding the context and expectations of cooperation.

“We are very pleased that GSGroup is expanding its operations using Digita’s LoRaWAN network. Our nationwide network offers excellent opportunities to implement positioning solutions in a cost-effective manner for the diverse needs of logistics, controlling work on the ground and monitoring equipment,” says Digita’s Sales Director, IoT Services Mika Flinck.
