Cloud and metering service provider WRM Systems, which works with water suppliers, manufacturers and consultants, has concluded a cooperation agreement with Digita on using the IoT network based on the LoRaWAN technology in GWP services.

The GWP service makes it possible to monitor the environment and prepare reports using sensors installed in different applications. The data measured by the sensors is transmitted via the LoRaWAN network to a system, where the water supplier can monitor the data in real time and send information directly to the authorities. The GWP service provides a link between, for example, water suppliers and a local Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre) and transfers information about groundwater level and temperature measured by a sensor via the LoRaWAN network to the system and then to the ELY Centre. This reduces the need for manual labour significantly, as the data can be transferred to several recipients through a single system.

“The GWP service provides a browser-based platform for multiple IoT products.  Water meter reading monitoring integrated into the service for water suppliers is the newest addition to the versatile service. Water meters provide real-time information about water consumption on property and household level. This data is then used by the WRM Systems algorithms, which identify issues such as household- or property-specific leaks, allowing alerts to be issued quickly to consumers. The user interface is laid over a map, which makes it clear and easy to use”, Jukka Happonen from WRM Systems says.

“Water suppliers have their own user interface specific to a water treatment plant in the GWP system, which is accessed through a browser. Our browser-based system can be customized to meet the customer’s needs and specifications. The system has significant benefits, as it makes it possible for users to monitor the entire water supply chain from groundwater production to the water running through the water distribution system, without forgetting the end users”, Jarkko Okkonen from WRM Systems explains.

“The system provided by WRM Systems is a great addition to the service package, which is made available to water suppliers through Digita’s LoRaWAN network”, Mona Miettinen, Digita Sales Manager for IoT Services, concludes.
