As of 7 December 2017, the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority has updated the regular programming licence for Brilliance Communications Oy to a licence for channels serving the public good. Channels serving the public good are distributed via Digita’s nationwide terrestrial television network multiplex A, which covers 99.96% of the population.
Digita is investing heavily in the development of its IoT network. The goal of the company is to build a Finland-wide IoT network.
Nelonen HD will be launched on Digita’s terrestrial television network on Wednesday, 1 November 2017, occupying channel number 24 in multiplex B.
IBM, Digita and Etteplan are jointly organising Finland’s first nationwide innovation competition, the Future City Challenge, with the aim of designing new solutions and applications to make the everyday lives of city-dwellers easier. The cities participating in the competition are Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Oulu, Jyväskylä and Tampere. Future City Challenge will begin on 3 December 2017 and end on 31 January 2018.
In the spring of 2017, Taloustutkimus and Digita launched a pilot study to examine the possibilities of developing new digital services and research methods. Carried out in the hybrid TV environment, the aim of the study was to investigate how Digita’s hybrid TV platform could be utilised in research. The study has now been extended by one year.
